Dr David Denham AM – a servant of his community

With profound sadness the Griffith Narrabundah Community Association record that, on 22 June 2024, our President Dr David Denham AM died. David devoted his life to serving Australia and Canberra through his professional and community service. He was 87 years old.

In 1984 David became a Member of the Order of Australia for service to seismology.

Following his retirement in 1999 from his position as First Assistant Secretary in the Australian Geological Survey Organisation, David turned his attention to his local community. He held various positions in the GNCA over many years, campaigning, in particular, for green spaces, trees and improved amenity for all residents.

As President David led us with intelligence, wisdom and humour. He guided our fund raising through our popular raffle, our ACAT applications and our other various community events. He also served us on the Inner South Community Council.

The GNCA and the wider community are the poorer from his passing
