The Australasian Scooter Association’s (ASA) Scooter Championship will be held at the Woden Skatepark on 16 February 2019. Entrants are invited to participate from the ACT and surrounding regional areas.
‘Scootering’ is a very popular action sport with significant numbers of children enjoying the sport across the skate parks around Canberra. All ages can enjoy the fun of scootering so come along, have a go and enjoy the day. Entrants will entertain the crowd with their awesome tricks and flips. Helmets must be worn.
The competition age groups available are: 7 & Under, 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 13 & Under, 14 & Under, 14 & Under Girls, 15 & Under, 16 & Under, Open, Open/Pro Girls and Pro. There will be cash prizes for top 3 Pro’s and trophies and medals for all age groups. The top contestants will advance to the National Titles.
All riders must be a member of the ASA to participate – go to www.ausscooter.com.au or www.revolutionise.com.au/asa/ to register. Registration is also entry to the competition and costs $25 for 7 & Under, $50 for all other age groups, $75 for Pros. This registration also allows entry to qualifiers in other states however only riders in their own state will get position recognition for their state.
Ms Fiona Carrick, President of the Woden Valley Community Council said that ‘last year’s inaugural competition was a fantastic day and we are hoping to make the competition an annual event. We will run a bbq with all profits going back into the community’.
Local businesses Straight Line Ski and Scuba and The Bank Indoor Skate Park will support the event on the day.
