Request for the ACT Government to purchase Borrowdale House and Bank House in Woden

We are writing about the impact the proposed W2 development will have on Woden’s focal point and civic area (the east west connection from the transport interchange, through the Town Square to the Library) and the diminishing ability to deliver the vision in the Master Plan for the Town Square to be the centre for social and community activity in the Town Centre.

We are seeking ACT Government policy and financial support to develop our concept plan for a community hub of social and recreational facilities in the Woden Town Centre with investment staged over the coming years. We also request staged investment in our playgrounds at the local shops. Former Woden CIT site – opposite the Canberra Hospital

The WVCC objects to the demolition of the former CIT which is strategically located on a 5.5 hectare site between the Woden Town Centre and the Canberra Hospital.  A Territory-wide Health Service Plan is currently being developed and will provide a system wide view of priorities for health service development and redesign over the next five years.
