This IGPA Seminar will discuss the role of community councils and community groups interested in specific planning and/or
heritage issues. The Seminar will particularly explore the adequacy and appropriateness of community consultation processes
in planning decisions across the Territory, and improvements deemed necessary to those processes.

Submission on Draft Variation to the Territory Plan for Woden

The Woden Valley Community Council (WVCC) supports residential development and the associated community facilities and open spaces required to support a growing population.  Unfortunately the draft variation to the Territory Plan for Woden provides for high rise buildings but does not meet the community’s needs for community facilities.

Mawson – please comment on the draft variation to the Territory Plan

The WVCC supports residential development around the Centre, with building heights that preserve the human scale and solar access to public areas. To this end we recommend taller buildings to the south of the Centre and shorter buildings to the north of the Centre to preserve solar access in the public areas.
