For residents to be attracted to public transport, it needs to be fast, reliable and comfortable. The backbone of the network should be as straight and fast as possible. Instead of weaving alignments that try to go everywhere (but take a long time to get anywhere) and meet many purposes, lines should run as straight as possible, with people using connections to move to different parts of the network.
