Liam Budge
Liam is a local jazz vocalist and songwriter.
In 2014 Liam moved to New York City to begin working on new musical ventures and projects, playing with some of New York City’s finest musicians.
He has returned home with his family and released his jazz project ‘Creswick’, performed at the Street Theatre and at many of Canberra’s large events.
The Woden Valley Youth Choir
In 1969 Don and Barbara Whitbread visited local schools and churches to gather support for a community choir. 22 children attended the first rehearsal at their home in Pearce and the Woden Valley Youth Choir began.
Over the last 50 years they have gone from strength to strength with local and international performances, appearing before the Queen, singing for Prime Ministers and performing with the Australian Opera.
In the early years they performed Carols by Candlelight in the Woden Town Square and we are very excited to have them performing in our Town Square again!
In recognition of the significant contribution to the community, Don and Barbara are feature on the Melrose Drive local heroes’ mural.
See you there on Wednesday 9 December.
