Despite great concern amongst residents across Canberra’s older areas about the amount of large multi unit developments being built in their neighbourhoods, the ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) proposes to change the residential codes in the Territory Plan to allow even more of these developments to proceed. ACTPLA has issued Draft Variation No. 303 to the Territory Plan (DV303) for community consultation with the deadline for comments closing on 23 August 2010.

Woden Valley Community Council supports appropriate urban infill but does not support ad hoc redevelopment based on poor design, over scale and overshadowing, and with no consultation. WVCC is urging residents to provide their views on DV303 before the closing date. See attached document for further details…
DV303 is on ACTPLA’s website and comments can be made directly to ACTPLA by close of business 23 August 2010 or to Woden Valley Community Council who will be making a submission on behalf of members. Comments to WVCC for consideration in our submission can be made to wvcc@bigpond.net.au by COB Friday 20 August.
