Proposed major changes to planning in the ACT – period for comment closes soon

The period for comment on two important draft variations to the Territory Plan closes soon.

Draft variation 301 proposes introducing a new estate development code that will ensure 95 per cent of single dwelling blocks in new estates meet new improved solar access rules. It will also streamline development assessment by incorporating some Department of Territory and Municipal Services standards into the code.

Comments close on draft variation 301 on Monday 16 August 2010.

Draft variation 303 aims to incorporate leading practice solar access provisions into the residential housing development code. The variation also includes new rules for secondary residences, sometimes referred to as granny flats.
