The review was part of the new sustainable transport action plan which has now been renamed Transport for Canberra. In his presentation, Mr Gill will give particular focus to the programs in the Woden area for improving cycling and pedestrian connections to different parts of the area.
Also at the meeting, as part of the Heart Foundation’s ‘Healthy Community Tour 2011’ program, Greg Mews, Active Living Coordinator at the Heart Foundation will do a presentation on what the Foundation, in conjunction with the ACT Government, is doing in the Woden area to promote healthier and more active communities. In 2009 the Heart Foundation developed, in partnership with the Planning Institute of Australia and the Australian Local Government Association, a national guide to promote healthy living called ‘Healthy Spaces and Places’.
Come along to the WVCC meeting on 1 June to be informed and to express your views on these important initiatives that will promote active living in the Woden area. All are most welcome to attend.
